Fan of animals and landscapes

Johan Thomas Lundbye was a young Danish painter and graphic artist who died at the age of just 29 during the Three-Year War in 1848 in Denmark. Lundbye was born into a military family in the Zealand town of Kalundborg. At the age of 14 he entered a drawing school, later to be admitted to the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Art. During his education he began exhibiting his paintings, which were primarily characterized by his interest in animals and landscapes. In 1845 he received a travel certificate from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Art so that he could travel the world to expand his knowledge of art. Taking that into account, he still remained extremely fascinated by animals and nature.
