Painter studying and personal style

Rembrandt van Rijn was a Dutch painter who was born of a mill in 1606 in Leiden, Netherland. As a 14-year-old, he was admitted as a student at the University of Leiden, but left the university rather quickly to pursue his dream of painting and becoming a skilled artist in the field. In 1624 he was given the opportunity to study painting at Pieter Lastman, in the Dutch metropolis, Amsterdam. He dropped this again after 6 months to go back to his hometown of Leiden and create his own personal painting style.

Portraits and details

Van Rijn found his personal style. He was extremely fond of painting detailed and colourful portraits. He was so engrossed in portraiture that he even sailed to an executed, Danish girl to paint her deceased body. Here too at Permild & Rosengreen it is clear what a love van Rijn had for portraits. You will find, among other things, "STUDY OF AN OLD HEAD IN PROFILE", which has been exhibited at the National Gallery of Denmark in Copenhagen. The poster is classic for its time, and is perfect for those who love the classic art style as well as neutral colours. Do not miss van Rijn's fine works that will fit perfectly in a light oak frame that highlights the details and vividness of the posters.
