The famous school of art

Bauhaus is an abbreviation of Staatliches Bauhaus, which covers the German College of Design and Art. The school opened its doors for the first time back in 1919 and closed down due to pressure from the Nazis in 1933. Bauhaus was founded in 1919 by the German architect Walter Gropius in Weimar and relocated in 1925 to Dressau and again in 1932 to the German capital Berlin. Gropius was the principal of the school until 1928, when Hanne Meyer took over and was closely followed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Due to the constant change of location and leadership, various techniques, policies and focal points also changed. This means that Bauhaus is a school that have evaluated on different approaches to the management of architecture and art making. Among other things, this has helped to make Bauhaus one of the leading art colleges in the world. Despite the changing policies and techniques that have characterized Bauhaus over the years, one particular approach to art has persisted. That art cannot be learned – but it can be crafted. At Bauhaus, therefore, emphasis was placed on the craftmanship of art and architecture, which both the school’s apprentices, assistants and masters experienced at close range.

Famous artists and fresh colours

Over the years, well-known artists such as Paul Klee and Wassily Kandinsky have walked the hallways of Bauhaus. These have been employed as masters, and thus conveyed and disseminated knowledge of arts and crafts. Here at Permild & Rosengreen you will find posters with everything from Kandinsky to old archives posters. Common to all the posters is that they are characterized by sharp edges and fresh, saturated colours. Bauhaus posters are posters that give a breath of fresh air to your home. And not only do they add freshness and colour, they also fill the home with well-considered photographic angles. See, for example, the two different posters BAUHAU ARKIV, ANNIVERSARY POSTER and BAUHAUS, PHOTO - SKYSCRAPER PROJECT, both of which testify to the changing but well-considered approaches to arts and crafts. Buy the posters with or without frames, which are available in several wood colours and sorts. These are black wood, natural oak, dark oak as well as magnetic oak frame.
