The Danish Golden Age's leading painter

C. W. Eckersberg was born in 1783 in Southern Jutland, where he also grew up as a young lad. Eckersberg was already interested in drawing at a young age, and did so as often as he could. He especially liked drawing the landscapes that surrounded him. Just after his confirmation, he came became a paintings student with the painter master, Jes Jessen and later became a journeyman. Eckersberg had a dream of being admitted to the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Art in Copenhagen, which is why he, with the help of his pocket money and acquaintances went to the Danish capital. Eckersberg’s dream came true in 1803, where he was admitted to the academy and therefore had to study among the country’s most competent painters and artists. After his admission to the Academy of Fine Art, Eckersberg only had ups regarding his paintings, and today he is one of the most well-known painters in the Danish Golden Age of painting.
