Asger Jorn
Asger Jorn (1914-1973) was one of Denmark's most well-known modernist visual artists.
But beside his paintings, Jorn was also a graphic artist, potter and author.
He was part of the artist groups Helhesten, COBRA which he helped establish in 1948, and later by Situationist International.
Provo and abstraction
The artist Asger Jorn wanted to provoke and create new with his art by moving at the established framework.
The aim was to create vibrating images via an avant-garde and expressive idiom.
The inspiration is found in children's drawings, Nordic mythology and is shaped as abstract images with a great use of colors and dynamics.
Through the abstract the art should express the unconscious, the depths and the gaps of the mind.
