Ib Antoni
Ib Antoni (1929-1973) was a highly regarded illustrator, designer and poster artist. Not only in Denmark, but also abroad, where he made illustrations for the renowned magazines Time and Life Magazine in the USA. Ib Antoni drew approx. 300 posters in the twenty years of his career. These were spread over a wide range of clients such as FDB, Politiken, Carlsberg, Dyrup, Volvo, Danish Agriculture, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Unicef and others.
Charm and warmth
However, Ib Antoni's circus posters for Circus Benneweis and Circus Schumann are probably best known. Especially the Circus Shumann poster with the world-famous clown Charlie Rivel (1967) was both Antoni's own favorite, as well as the one he is best remembered for. His posters are humorous and powerfully charming, but also contain a kind of warm poetry and loving play with the image.
