Since the opening of Tivoli in Copenhagen in 1843, the world-famous amusement garden's adventurous universe has been depicted on posters a tradition that today is continued by some of the best Danish artists.
The Tivoli posters give a unique insight into the development of poster art from the mid-1800s to the present.
In Alfred Schmidt's (1858-1938) poster from 1913, we meet the well-known and beloved clown figure of the Pantomime Theater, Pjerrot, which, with the help of a small, black devil, has to put the first red brush stroke on a white column.
Frames for this poster size 90 x 120 cm. will be custom made, which means that the framed versions of this item cannot be returned.
