Since the opening of Tivoli in Copenhagen in 1843, the world-famous amusement garden's adventurous universe has been depicted on posters a tradition that today is continued by some of the best Danish artists. The Tivoli posters give a unique insight into the development of poster art from the mid-1800s to the present. Otto Nielsen's (b. 1916) poster from 1986 shows Tivoli as the place of dreams and adventure. In an explosion of colors, the fairy tale master H.C. Andersen in the silhouette together with the nightingale from one of his famous adventures.
