A. M. Cassandre’s early life
Adolphe Jean-Marie Mouron, better known by the artist name A. M. Cassandre, was a French painter. Cassandre was born in 1901 in Ukraine, and moved to the exclusive city, Paris, as a youngster. Here Cassandre studied at the Êcole des Beaux-Arts and Académia Julian. The fact that posters became more popular as the advertising industry expanded, gave Cassandre the opportunity to work for a Parisian advertising printing business.
Inspiration and fascination
Cassandre was particularly inspired by cubism and surrealism and quickly earned a good reputation by virtue of works such as Bûcheron, which was made for a furniture carpenter. His fascination for cubism is also evident in his works, Dubo, Dubon, Dubonnet, which can be found here on the site. Cassandre’s beautiful posters also features a graphic style that is at the same time timeless and highly relevant in this modern time period we live in today. Take a look at Cassandre’s sometimes marvellous but definitely beautiful works right here.
