The satirical universe of Robert Storm Petersen (1882-1949) is known in particular from his series of drawings and text in newspapers such as Ekstra Bladet and the daily newspaper B.T., but he also painted watercolors and oil paintings, and drew many posters throughout his career.
The image Back to Nature from 1945, which this poster is reproduced for, is a commentary on society immediately after World War II. Here, long rows of gray workers seem to move uncritically to the factories to finally resume work and thus support the former social order.
Meanwhile, Storm P.'s recurring figure, the vagabond, goes its own way - into the colorful and sun-filled nature.
