The satirical universe of Robert Storm Petersen (1882-1949) is known in particular from his series of drawings and text in newspapers such as Ekstra Bladet and the daily newspaper B.T., but he also painted watercolours and oil paintings, and drew many posters throughout his career. In the picture The Freedom of 1938, to which this poster is reproduced, stands a sloping assembly of gentlemen on a hilltop and enjoys the freedom of each other's company, distant from the everyday grind. Freedom floats like a red balloon over their heads.
