Aage Rasmussen
Aage Rasmussen (1913-1974) was a trained cartoonist from the Technical School in Copenhagen. His posters are distributed in the travel, transport and tourism areas and are all of a high artistic level.
The breakthrough as a poster artist came with the poster for the Danish Railways' lightning train in 1937, which at the same time also became the start of a long-term collaboration.
Here is also a clear inspiration from the French idol A.M. Cassandre's transport posters are now just in a Danish interpretation.
From light clouds to greater heaviness
At the start of his career, Aage Rasmussen's posters were often marked by light compositions with sprayed cloud formations on a blue sky, which his famous lightning poster of 1937 does not however indicate.
But in the 1960s, he changed his style to a heavier and more sketchy line that, with full contour lines and larger colors, created a more distinctive expression.
