Pierre Alechinsky

Pierre Alechinsky (b. 1927) is a Belgian artist, graphic artist, ceramist and writer who has lived and worked in France since 1951. His works are characterized by abstract expressionism and by the inspiration of the COBRA movement that he was a part of. period 1948-1951.

From oil to acrylic

Pierre Alechinsky's idiom is surreal, playful and in the 50s characterized by abstract, adventurous creatures that emerge from the canvas. His favorite materials are felt, gouache and oil paint. This, however, sharply changes in the 60s when Alechinsky discovers the acrylic colour and repels oil painting. As an art painter, Pierre Alechinsky has exhibited all over the world, and common to his works is that they are imaginative, virtuoso and extremely expressive.
