Adolphe Mouron Cassandre (1901-1968) is one of the 20th century's largest poster artists.

As a trained artist and poster designer, A.M. Cassandre very conscious of his use of style, and his style is tight, graphic and inspired by Cubism and Art Deco.

 

Machine aesthetics, humor and burning icons

Cassandre's works go from impressive, masculine posters made to train and shipping companies that pay tribute to industry machinery and progress, to charming, humorous and bubbly advertising figures.

Best known is Cassandre's Dubonnet man, who is made in countless versions for the friendship Dubonnet.

Along with Cassandre's design of the Yves Saint Laurent logo, the Dubonnet posters have become an icon of branding and advertising design.
